In 1999 French luxury goods conglomerate LVMH bought nearly 100 percent of the Swiss company. The name TAG Heuer combines the initials of "Techniques d'Avant Garde" and the founder's surname. TAG Heuer is based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland and is led by President and CEO Jean-Claude Biver. Jack Heuer, the great grandson of the founder, is the honorary chairman. TAG Heuer maintains a watchmaking workshop in Cornol, Switzerland and a watchmaking factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The TAG Heuer slogan is "Swiss Avant-Garde Since 1860". TAG Heuer traces its roots to 1860 when Edouard Heuer founded Uhrenmanufaktur Heuer AG English: Heuer Watchmaking Inc. Edouard Heuer patented his first chronograph in 1882 and in 1887 patented an "oscillating pinion" still used by major watchmakers of mechanical chronographs. From 1911, Heuer manufactured timepieces to be mounted on the dashboards of automobiles, aircraft, and boats. These clocks and timers included a variety of models, designed to address specific needs of racers and rallyists. Since 2016 TAG Heuer has formed a partnership with the Red Bull Racing Formula One team. The partnership includes Red Bull running TAG Heuer-branded power units. Leonidas was a well-known Swiss watch company that was bought by Heuer in the 1960s to create Heuer-Leonidas S. Jacky Ickx, is the man who lends his name to the Chrome Easy Rider. Ickx entered Formula 1 in 1967 and finished second in the World Championship in both 1969 and 1970.
By 1971 he was the number 1 Ferrari driver- which was also the first year that Heuer started to sponsor the Ferrari team. Despite starting the 1971 season as favourite, it was ultimately a frustrating season for Ickx, as was 1972. Jacky left Ferrari in 1973 for a procession of other teams, and never quite got back to the top of Formula 1. But today, Jacky Ickx is best known for his results in a category other than Formula 1: Jacky Ickx was the King of Le Mans. Ickx won the Le Mans 24 hour race 6 times (a record which was only broken by Tom Kristensen in 2008), the last of which was in the famous Rothmans Porsche 956 in 1982.

Ebauches SA (often called ESA) was a holding company for Swiss watch movement manufacturers from 1926, becoming the main movement unit of ASUAG in 1931 until it was merged to become the modern ETA between 1979 and 1985. The components of Ebauches SA date from as early as 1793, when the factory that would become FHF is founded in Fontainemelon.ETA, the eventual successor to Ebauches SA, traces its history to the 1856 founding of Dr. Girard and Schild Ebauches in Grenchen.
Schild, was established in 1896 in Grenchen. Ebauches SA was created on 27 December 1926 as a holding company with headquarters in Neuchâtel.Schild AG (AS or ASSA) and Adolphe Michel SA (AMSA) of Grenchen and Fabrique d' Horlogerie de Fontainemelon (FHF) of Fontainemelon. The purpose of this merger was to bring order to the chaotic watch movement manufacturing industry. There were so many movement manufacturers that prices were falling and companies were failing. Many would sell components and ebauches abroad, where they were often used in "junk watches" with the "Swiss made" name. Ebauches SA quickly expanded, adding Hora SA of Cortébert, Sonceboz, Charles Hahn & Cie, and Landeron, among other smaller makers in 1927.
The next year, Ebauches SA added 10 more companies, including Felsa SA, Venus SA, Bovet, and Optima. 1929 saw 8 more, including Postala and Urania. Also added were Guerrin-Bourquin & Cie and Unitas SA, the movement maker of A.
But even this concentration was not enough, and the value of Swiss watch movements continued to fall as other makers flooded the market. In 1931, Ebauches SA became a founding member of ASUAG and would become the focus for movement makers within that group. Many important movement makers would join Ebauches SA over the following decades. Fabrique d'Ebauches de Fleurier was added in 1932, Peseux in 1933, Derby in 1941, and Valjoux in 1944. The main goal was maintaining long-term economic independence for member companies, reducing competition, coordinating product development, and promoting specialization. Ebauches SA met its end in the 1980's, with most of the component companies brought into the Swatch Group under ETA. NO EXTRA CHARGES FOR BUYERS OUTSIDE EUROPEAN UNION.
