Rare Vintage John Yates Teacup Saucer Cobalt Blue Hand Painted Coalport 1038
Rare Vintage John Yates Teacup Saucer Cobalt Blue Hand Painted. This is an exceptionally beautiful Yates teacup and saucer made around 1825, which is known as the Regency period. The Yates factory was operative between 1784 and 1836 and was mostly based in Shelton, Staffordshire. It worked alongside other more famous potters such as Minton, Spode, Coalport and Ridgway, and produced both earthenwares and porcelain.

This set is potted in the famous "Old English Flute" style. It has a beautiful cobalt blue ground with lavish gilt decorations and stunning panels with hand painted flowers. The flowers have been painted by a master painter, and they aren't just any flower paintings; if you look well you can see a faint landscape behind the flowers, complete with a ruin on top of a hill! The gilt decorations include a wonderful shark teeth detail. The outside of the cup has a band of gilt cornucopias or Horns of Plenty.

The cup and saucer are unmarked except the pattern number 1038. CONDITION REPORT The set is in good antique condition with no flaw on the teacup except 3 hairline cracks on back of the saucer which all captured on the last 3 pictures, the hairline cracks does not go through the porcelain nor visible in the front. The set has hardly any rubbing of the gilt. The item "Rare Vintage John Yates Teacup Saucer Cobalt Blue Hand Painted Coalport 1038" is in sale since Tuesday, June 30, 2020.
